65 Days of Solo Pleasure 3: Secret Office Sexfuture of gaming/military training programs inches ever closer with this week's litany of VR Battle Royale style games.
No doubt inspired by the massive success of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, these VR games are working to simulate the experience of camping in decrepit buildings, hanging with friends while getting shot at, and sitting in a constant, uneasy tension that is also somehow enjoyable.
SEE ALSO: The 'PUBG' craze is spreadingThe best looking one that we've found is Oneiric Entertainment's Virtual Battleground. Creative Director Sean Pinnock posted about the game on Reddit where he shared some gameplay footage and asked for feedback. It runs a bit janky as it stands, but it's super early in development and so more of a proof of concept than anything else currently.
Most were impressed with the way the game looked, especially after only two months of development. Particularly impressive is the game's Skydiving sequence, which is both thrilling to imagine in VR, and appears to avoid the motion sickness pitfalls that befall a lot of other VR games.
The game is pretty nakedly inspired by PUBG, from having a playable, circular radius on the map that shrinks, to the environment, vehicles, and weapons -- but that doesn't mean it doesn't look like a fantastic, and wildly different way to experience the Battle Royale phenomenon.
Pinnock has also opened the game to alpha-testing, meaning you can try it out and help give feedback as the game is completed.
VBG wasn't the only game to make a splash this week in the realm of VR Battle Royale games, as Koenigz Bullets and More added a Battle Royale mode on Saturday, and D.W.S's Until None Remain, which came yesterday.
