Welcome to our weekly series "Cry of the Week,Western Archives" in which we highlight whatever moment madeus ugly cry on ourcouchesthe most in the past seven days.

FXX's twisted comedy lovechild You're The Worstmade its Season 4 debut on Wednesday, and while it's biting, witty, and sexy as ever, it's still in an exceedingly dark place.

Season 3 ended with Lindsay finally through with her marriage, Edgar on the cusp of his comedy career, and Gretchen and Jimmy engaged...for all of two minutes, before he drove away and left her abandoned in the Hollywood Hills (he's been on his own journey, but that's another piece for another time).

It turns out that Gretchen hightailed it from that cliffside to Lindsay's (formerly Dorothy's) apartment, and that she hasn't been outside in three months. She's Skyping her clients and pretending to be in Europe while avoiding the entire city and world out of terror that she'll see Jimmy somewhere.

"But isn't it kind of awesome though, that I came straight here after Jimmy left me on that hill and that I haven't left?" She asks Lindsay. "Like, that is pretty much straight baller when you think about it!" Her voice soars and pitches, her eyes wild with fear and pain that Aya Cash expertly ushers from funny to heartbreaking.

"What if I run into him and then I die?" she asks Lindsay quietly.

So Gretchen is a crack-smoking agoraphobe now who still Skypes her therapist and takes her meds but is self-admittedly terrified of facing what happened to her three months ago. She clings to Lindsay as a life raft, but she's drowning. Every time Cash's eyes brim with tears, we're ready for a full meltdown, but it never comes. In its place is an overwhelming despondence, amplified when the hottie at the bar won't toss her some semblance of normalcy and twisted further when we see her taking up with the sleazy old director she used to sleep with before Jimmy.

And then, literally as she's having sex with him, the phone lights up.

NOPE. Time to go back inside and cry.
