Anyone who watches Timothée Chalamet's episode of Saturday Night Live— or Philippineseven just his monologue and a few select sketches — will be left with two unshakable thoughts. The first (as always) will simply be, "Damn, Timmy really is freaking adorable." And the second (way more unexpected thought) will be, "Wow. Timmy and Pete Davidson are a real power duo, aren't they?"
It was a great night for Chalamet, but honestly? It was an even better night for Chalamet andDavidson, who looked to be the best of friends when they shared the stage not once, not twice, but thrice!(I only use "thrice" for the most special occasions, and let me tell you, this is one of them.)
The two first united at the piano bench in Chalamet's monologue. After Timmy reminisced on his mom's SNL days, growing up in the city, and celebrating Christmas in New York, he excitedly proclaimed, "We got another New York City kid on cast! Hey look, it's Pete Davidson!"
Davidson set the duo's undeniable chemistry in motion by telling Chalamet he smelled great before briefly sharing the charm of a spaghetti and scratch-off-filled Staten Island Christmas. As Chalamet was wrapping up, Davidson supportively wrapped his arm around his pal and the two exchanged a few secret words before parting ways...but not for long.
The New York boys returned side-by-side in a "Sporstmax" sketch which featured an anchor (played by Alex Moffat) hosting a "network for real Jets fans" spun off from Newsmax, one of the conservative networks propping up Donald Trump's false 2020 election conspiracy.
Chalamet and Davidson appeared on the network — which gives Jets fans what they really want to hear, a spin on the truth (which some people call "lies") — as analysis-spouting "Jet-sperts," Deluca and Delvechio.
Watching the fake-mustached duo shit on the NFL and present sworn affidavits from 500 Jets fans who all say the Jets won a game they actually lost was delightful. You'll likely be left wondering if the majority of your thrills came from watching Pete mainline cheese fries or Timmy's neck vein bulge from his commitment to the bit, and I'm here to tell you the allure came from both of those things, but also from the sheer fact that the two guys did the sketch together.
My suspicions that the two boys bring out the best in each other was confirmed when Petée Chalametson took the stage a third time in a "Rap Roundtable" sketchhosted by Ego Nwodim. The panel featured Questlove, Queen Latifah (played by Punkie Johnson) and a rap duo by the names of Guaplord (Davidson) and $mokechaddathaassgetta (Chalamet).
While Davidson was sporting a neon orange sweatshirt, glasses, and blueish wig, Chalamet was decked out in purple hair and a smattering of tattoos. The roles already felt somewhat fitting — as both boys have certainly rapped before — but watching them exhaustively scream "YEET" and "SKRT" while claiming their two biggest inspirations are "Fall Out Boys" and "The Car Rats" (the hamsters from those Kia commercials) was like watching two unintelligible white man kindred spirits truly find each other. Their chemistry was more apparent than ever, and it was truly a beautiful sight.
Anyway, all of this is to say that we — and so many other SNLfans — now stan Pete Davidson and Timothée Chalamet. Chalamet's sister Pauline even shared a clip of the two guys on her Instagram story with the caption, "SOME OF THE KEWLEST NYC BOYS I KNOW."
So, like, are Pete and Timmy best friends now? Have they secretly been pals for a while? Did that one dinner they shared with Kanye West and Kid Cudi bring them closer together? Is John Mulaney — who loves Davidson and already has it in for Chalamet, a "son of a bitch" because of the 24-year-old actor's height and the fact that his wife maybe has a lil crush on him — furiously jealous over this friendship? We have so many questions.

Though we may never know how Timmy and Pete's personalities came to be so darn complementary, one thing was made abundantly clear on the SNL set: The New York kids are alright.
