Bugs on Taste of Younger Sister in law (2025)the New York City subway system rarely get the star treatment, but one lucky insect got vaulted to fame on Thursday when passengers discovered it on their train.
Instead of meeting an instantaneous, gruesome death at the hand, shoe, or newspaper of a commuter, something weird happened to the little green creature. Not only was it spared, but passengers actually picked it up and held it in their hands. Samantha Ruddy caught the wholesome moment and shared it for the entire Twitterverse to enjoy.

“New York is the dumbest and I love it,” Ruddy said on Twitter. Ruddy told Mashable in a DM that they first noticed the bug crawling on the striped-shirt-man’s backpack.
Ruddy added, “[I]t crawled on his foot and he got kind of nervous because nobody knew what kind of bug it was but then the kid with the blonde hair came over and told us it was harmless and picked it up with his hand and then we all just passed it off to each other until we got to union square and he released it."
Though bugs give plenty of people the heebie jeebies, this one isn't nearly as bad as most subway riders. It doesn’t take up much room. It isn’t loud. And it’s certainly not going to curse you out if you accidentally bump into it. What can we say? Bugs apparently have excellent subway etiquette.
Oh -- except it did poop on someone, according to Ruddy. Maybe it got a little nervous?

But come on, you can’t tell me you wouldn’t be a bit distressed, too, if random people started picking you up and holding you while snapping your picture on the Q train. So I think we can be a little forgiving.
