It's that time of year: when we look back at what kind of porn everyone watched last year.
Both Pornhub and Student Wife (2016)xHamster have recently unveiled year-in-review reports for 2017. And while much of it is far from surprising (people like cheerleaders, can you believe it?), one finding consistent across both reports further confirms what many have known all along: Women are watching more porn.
SEE ALSO: Which dating app is right for you? Use this guide to figure it out.Let's start with Pornhub. Its 2017 report notes that there were 24.7 billion searches on site last year. The number one search? That'd be "Porn for Women," a term that saw 359 percent growth among female users between 2016 and 2017. Among overall users, the phrase saw a 1,400 percent increase year over year.
What else were people looking for in 2017? Apparently searches for Rick and Morty(yes, the animated TV show) and fidget spinners were up last year.
Then we have xHamster's year-end report and projection for 2018. Last year the site saw a 2.4 percent increase in women viewers across the globe. Broken down by country, the site recorded the biggest gains in South Africa, where female users grew by 23 percent. Meanwhile in China, xHamster saw a 28 percent decrease in women users.
Overall, women represent 26 percent of xHamster's total users. The top search term for women in the U.S.? That'd be "Daddy," while the top search term for women globally was "Mom."
As xHamster notes, the share of women viewers on porn sites has increased steadily in the last few years. As we covered back in April, a YouPorn survey of 24,000 women viewers found that 60 percent of respondents said they watched porn a couple times a month (if not weekly), while 18 percent said they view porn daily.
Further proof that women obviously like sex too.
Correction: This post has been updated to include the number of searches on Pornhub in the last year, and removed an inaccurate figure regarding the number of visitors to the site last year.
