According to Variety, HBO's SVP of Drama Francesca Orsi said: “None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started falling down to their deaths.”

Orsi said this at a "Best of HBO" panel in Jerusalem, where she also said reaching the show's ending was “a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers."
At the same panel, she and network programming president Casey Bloys also talked about those spinoffs, laughing at the idea of $50 million per season (Thrones' record is in the neighborhood of $15 million per episode).
"[That] would never fly for what we are trying to do. We are going big,” Orsi said.
Game of Thronesreturns in 2019.
