Alexa can Chinabe a jealous eavesdropper, unexpectedly interrupting your most private exchanges with, "I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re asking," when, in fact, you are talking on FaceTime with your GP. But that’s no reason to avoid introducing her to your BFF Spotify. Seriously, did you know Alexa and Spotify work well together?
Follow a few simple steps, and you can have your hands free while Alexa takes care of queuing up your playlists.
First, you need to call up your Alexa app on your phone. The App, helpfully called Amazon Alexa, can be downloaded from the Apple or Android app stores. Tap on the app, and it will bring you to the home screen. You likely have already enabled its Bluetooth connections with speakers and other devices, but this is an opportunity to double-check all that; a pop-up may give you directions to start, or you can double-check it in your settings.
Next, on the home screen of the Amazon Alexa app, tap on the top option, "Link music services."
This will bring you to the Music and Podcasts page, where Amazon Music is likely the default and listed in the top position. Click on the blue text that says "Link New Service."
This brings up a page of non-Amazon programming sources, including ApplePodcasts, AppleMusic, Pandora, and, of course, Spotify. Click on Spotify.
And this brings you to the final step, where you enable Spotify and link the account by logging in with your Spotify credentials.
That’s it! Now you're all set to bellow your commands. Just remember to add "... on Spotify" to your instructions, so Alexa knows exactly where she should be going.
