In one of the unluckiest things to ever happen to a horse983 Archives a horse in a small Washington town fell into a 14-foot deep sinkhole on Tuesday evening.
The Kittitas County Fire District was called to the scene to help, and a brave veterinarian was lowered into the hole to see if the horse, named Copper, was OK, KOMO News reports.

The fire department enlisted the help of a neighbor to free Copper from the sinkhole. Using an excavator, the crew managed to dig a ramp down so that the horse could easily walk out, instead of being lifted using a harness.

Though Copper was dehydrated and cold, he made it out of the ordeal just fine, and had a welcoming crew of horses to celebrate his return to safer ground.
"The best part was when the rescued horse got out, he neighed to his buddies and another 10 horses came bolting over to see if he was ok," firefighter Katie Schmidt said in a statement.
