Imagine walking along a shore just minding your own business when you notice a peculiar bottle floating on Dubbedwater in the distance.
You decide to grab the bottle and notice there's a note tucked inside. Much to your surprise, the hand-written message is dated 1988. According to UPI, that's exactly what happened to a Georgia couple who have since tracked down the note's sender.

The couple, David and Linda Humphries, were traveling to Sapelo Island to clean up beach litter caused by Hurricane Irma when the bottle caught their eyes.
"The bottle was plastic, and broke as my husband tried to unscrew the lid," Linda Humphries told Mashable. "He carefully fished out a note with a child's handwriting."
Mr. Humphries showed his wife the note and although the paper was soaked, the first few lines of the message were still clear.
The most legible part of the message from Chavez reads: "Hello My Name is Miranda Dawn Moss. I am 8 years old. I am in third grade at Foster Park Union, S.C."
"My first thought was 'this little girl will be so excited to find out that her letter was found,'" said Humphries. "Then I saw the date, September 26, 1988! I was floored. This message was from 29 years ago."
After an endless Google search for Chavez, the Humphries decided the best way to get the word out was to post their discovery on Facebook. Soon enough, they found her personal profile, contacted the writer via Facebook, and received an immediate response.
Elated by the unexpected blast of nostalgia, Chavez wrote on Facebook: "The most amazing thing just happened!! I received a message on Facebook where Linda Shouse Humphries found a message in a bottle that I put in the Ocean at Edisto Beach on September 26, 1988. I was 8 years old!!! She found it on Sapelo Island, GA and is sending it to me!! So cool!"
Humphries stated that she plans to keep in touch with the mother of two and will be sending her the letter along with other treasures found on the island.
"It was an amazing find, but what amazes me even more is the journey Miranda's letter has taken around the world since it was found," said Humphries. "We have never met, and I had never heard of her a week ago, but it feels like we've been lifelong friends now!"
