Project Runway,Watch Young Wife Bai Jie a show about designers competing to create innovative looks under challenging circumstances, rarely gets political. But when it does... ooh boy.
During the episode that aired on Thursday night, designers had to pull together an outfit for host Karlie Kloss to wear in Paris out of thrifted materials gathered from Goodwill. The challenge tasked contestants to design a look that's "super cool," "wearable," and "chic."
Contestant Tyler Neasloney's conservative white blouse and black skirt ensemble didn't hit the mark for judge Brandon Maxwell, who said, "I cannot see Karlie wearing it anywhere, honestly."
"Not even to dinner with the Kushners?" Neasloney quipped, eliciting gasps from Kloss and the other contestants.

Kloss, who has been married to Josh Kushner since Oct. 2018, rarely acknowledges her in-laws, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Both Kloss and Josh Kushner are registered Democrats and voiced their support for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Toward the end of the episode, Neasloney said that the remark wasn't meant to be a jab. When he was eliminated, he apologized to Kloss: "I'm professional, so what I said earlier had no hidden agenda, no meaning."
Town and Countrynotes that Kloss doesn't have the best relationship with the Kushners; Vicky Ward's 2019 book Kushner, Inc. claims that they refused to meet her for six years and that she was excluded from family gatherings.
Regardless of intent, the comment still appeared to sting.
